FIG. 01 — MODULE DIAGRAM, SANITARY BASIS

A CDPH ablution block is a shared washroom and toilet building assembled from the same factory-prefabricated modules used across our modular house range. Each block is built up from the modular integrated bathroom units of our camp furnishing and sanitary system (SYS-06): complete sanitary ware, moisture-proof anti-slip floor tiles and weather-resistant interior panels are finished in the factory, so the building arrives on site ready to occupy. Water supply runs along the walls and drainage is wall-side, following the same plumbing approach as the standard accommodation modules. Blocks are configured to each camp's requirements and quoted as part of the wider camp project rather than as a catalogue item.

How an ablution block is put together

The structure is the CDPH standard module: a galvanised cold-formed steel frame (SGH340, t=3.0 mm) prefabricated in the factory, with 100 mm glass wool insulation in roof and floor and colour-steel sandwich panels or seamless S-type rock wool composite panels for the walls. Modules are bolted together on site, which keeps the joints serviceable and allows the block to be extended, reconfigured or relocated as a camp grows or moves. Interior fit-out — sanitary ware, tiling, panels — is completed before dispatch.

Because the ablution block shares its module system with the rest of the camp, toilet and shower units can be combined with changing areas, laundry points or storage in the same building envelope, and the block can be planned alongside dormitory and office modules in one layout. Single, double and triple storeys are possible, in I, U, L or courtyard arrangements.

Layout and format options

Ablution blocks can be supplied in either of the two format variants built on the CDPH module system, so transport and site access can be matched to the project:

  • Flat pack — the 6055 mm standard box packed flat for transport and assembled on site.
  • Detachable — bolted, demountable modules that can be taken apart and reused.

Storey height and plan form (single, double or triple storey; I, U, L or courtyard) are agreed at design stage together with the sanitary layout.

Where ablution blocks are used

Shared washroom and toilet modules are typically specified for engineering camps, construction camps and emergency facilities, and can be combined with education or military site accommodation. CDPH has delivered camp projects in a range of climates and regions, including a copper mine camp built for −55 °C conditions, a natural gas project camp in Nigeria, a construction camp for a methanol plant, a port expansion camp in Côte d'Ivoire, a camp for a cross-sea bridge project in Croatia, and a living camp for a solar power station in Saudi Arabia whose fire performance was verified by Intertek testing.

Ordering and engineering review

CDPH is a project-based manufacturer: there is no standard MOQ, and every ablution block is quoted individually after engineering review. Send your camp layout, occupancy and sanitary requirements through our contact page; the engineering team replies within one business day with a concept proposal and a budget range. Certifications are held at category level — CE for modular container houses, prefab houses and light steel villas, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, product carbon footprint certification, National High-Tech Enterprise status, NATA materials certification for Australia, Intertek fire-resistance certification, CCS factory approval and Intertek ICC-ES / WH building-material compliance for the US market. Certificates available upon request.
